The fillings within the mattress provide the softest covering for thousands of unique pocket springs, hand-laid in a double layer for definitive comfort and superb support. This is the finest ever Vispring mattress made, and one of the best beds in the world. The mattress contains 2,812* pocket springs, 51mm in diameter, sewn into individual calico pockets and hand formed into a honeycomb-nested unit, constructed with two layers of springs. Vispring are the inventors of the pocket spring and have always used 6 coils as the optimum amount in each spring, VI (in Roman numerals), hence the name Vispring. The Vispring Masterpiece mattress is hand-made to order in the company’s workshops in Plymouth, Devon. Vispring work with an uncompromising approach, but because sleep is such a deeply personal part of life, it’s really the only way to ensure that every bed is not only supremely comfortable, but also fits its owner like a glove. The mattress is beautifully upholstered with Platinum certified real Shetland wool and cotton. Wool fibres have a composition that is unique in nature and unmatched by synthetic alternatives. As a result, the fibre works in harmony with your body, keeping you warm in winter and cooler in summer, to enhance the quality of your rest. Selecting the finest horsetail is only the start of the story. Master craftsmen carefully weigh the correct quantity of horsetail, then open and tease the coils of hair by hand to enhance its natural springiness.

This is all wrapped in your choice of fine worsted wool upholstery fabric from the Vispring fabric collection. The mattress is hand tufted with hand-tied woollen tufts and twine and benefits from four rows of genuine hand side stitching with flax twine. This gives the mattress an exquisite, tailored finish, but more importantly it gives supportive strength to the mattress edges that lesser beds need a metal rod to achieve.
