Description
The Vispring Shetland mattress offers all the distinctive sensations of an all-wool Vispring mattress. The mattress bears the prestigious Woolmark in testimony to its unrivalled quality. Exclusive to Vispring mattresses, its pure Shetland wool retains its structure after use, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer to enhance the quality of your rest. Thanks to this noble fibre's unique springiness, the mattress combines sensuous softness with a satisfying supportive feel.
Soft and Comfortable Shetland Isle Fleece Wool
The remote Shetland Islands, off the northeast coast of Scotland, are home to a rare breed of sheep. The sheep were introduced to the islands by the Vikings over one thousand years ago, and have been reared by successive generations of farmers ever since. The fleece has developed over centuries to become uniquely soft, springy and strong, making this harsh and beautiful landscape the home of one of the world’s finest wools. Vispring is the only mattress maker to use real Shetland wool in its mattresses; with more than one quarter of the annual Shetland Islands’ wool clip destined for a Vispring mattress. The mattress is beautifully upholstered with 600gsm of softly needled British fleece wool, then 950gsm hand-teased real Shetland Isle fleece wool, overlaid with two layers of 300gsm British fleece wool.
The Vispring Shetland Mattress, featuring Soft but Supportive Pocket Springs
The mattress contains a total of 1720* hand-nested pocket springs (based on a king-size model) that are 48mm in diameter, they are hand-nested in a honeycomb pattern by their experienced craftsmen to maximize the support offered by the Shetland mattress. Vispring houses each spring under slight compression in natural calico pockets, so they offer immediate resistance to your body weight. The "pockets" contain the springs while allowing them to work independently, gently supporting you from head to toe as you sleep. The mattress has a 21cm deep mattress border that features three rows of genuine hand side-stitching.
